UNITY & ORNAMENT : JEWELLERY BY JASMINE WATSON “My jewellery is inspired by the fine floral detail of Oriental textiles and the radial symmetry of mandala’s. As circular formations, mandala’s are said to symbolise the universe and represent the unity of all things. I combine my background in film and costume making with my love of intricate detail and ornamental surfaces, layering and repeating pierced silhouettes to create jewellery that evokes a sense of theatre and occasion.” Jasmine Watson’s work is made by hand. The individual components are meticulously hand cut, cast, then hand finished and assembled. She has exhibited both in New Zealand and internationally. This is her first solo exhibition. |
