LISA WEST was born in Tauranga, New Zealand, in 1967. In 1986 she attended a part-time course at Hungry Creek Craft Workshops, where she learned basic jewellery making skills. Walker and Hall sponsored her for a further year to work full time at Hungry Creek learning jewellery techniques.
In 1988 she spent six months working for a manufacturing jeweller learning production techniques.
In 1989 Lisa attended Hungry Creek again as a Northland Polytechnic student, and gained a Certificate in Craft/Design.
In 1991 she gained a Diploma of Applied Arts, and 1992, was employed as a jewellery tutor at Hungry Creek.
After a move to Wanaka in 1994 Lisa found herself in a position to become properly self-employed as a craft jeweller. She has been a fulltime self-employed craftsperson since 1994, working in silver, glass, stone and shell.
"Though most of my time is spent producing work for the gallery market, I have been an enthusiastic participant in many group shows of glass and jewellery within New Zealand, and a few internationally.
I currently live and work in Auckland".
