JENNIFER BRAITHWAITE'S jewellery is an extension of her fashion background. "My inspiration lies in the use of materials and the manipulation of something to make it wearable. I constantly question the drape of a garment and the way something fits to the body. This is the path that has lead me to jewellery.
Necklaces about necklaces:
I make precision cut pieces of jewellery from alternative materials (not traditional jewellery materials), translating line, like a drawn image of a silhouette or an object into a cut piece that can be worn. A string of pearls, a knotted chain, a diamond necklace; these are pieces of jewellery that are instantly recognised but presented in an unpredictable way, a subtle illusion, where all is not quite as it seems".
Jennifer was formally trained at the prestigious Central Saint Martins School of Fashion in London with the likes of Robert Carey-Williams, Stella McCartney and Sophia Kokoslaki. She has designed for and supplied to many established names in the fashion industry. She has more recently made the transition from fashion to jewellery making with the launch of her unique silhouette necklaces.
